Loosen both post screws, slide each leg into its housing, then pass a thin former through the wraps to hold the barrel straight while you tighten. Position the coil in the centre of the deck, level with the air intake, clear of the surrounding metal.
Tighten each screw firmly, because a leg that is not properly clamped falsifies the reading and heats erratically. Then trim the protruding legs flush with the posts so that nothing can fold over and touch something it should not once the cap goes back on.
Measuring and correcting before you go further

Cut the fibre to the length of the channels on the deck, fluff the ends and lay them into the wells. A dual coil build lowers the total resistance of the assembly and raises the volume of vapour, but it demands two rigorously identical coils and a careful look at the current being drawn from the cell. Until the gesture is automatic, staying single is the sensible choice.
